Gloria Borge is a contemporary dancer.
She was born in 1994 in Asturias (Spain).
She started her career dancing ballet at school at a young age.
Later, she started preparing for her RAD exams, obtaining a Distinction in Grade Intermediate in 2012.
During that period, she was also trained in other sports and artistic disciplines like gymnastics and synchronized swimming.
She was introduced to contemporary dance through various workshops and intensives studying with different teachers like Mamen García (Jove Companya Gerard Collins), Yoshua Cienfuegos (Cienfuegos Danza) or Dana Raz (Dana Raz Dance Projects).
In 2012, she started studying for her BS in Psychology at the University of Oviedo and decided to focus on her contemporary dance training.
She obtained an Erasmus+ Studies Scholarship to study abroad at Ege University (Izmir, Turkey) and an Erasmus+ Placement Scholarship to run her research-based internship in language acquisition and developmental psychology at Yasar University (Izmir, Turkey).
In 2016, she continued her undergraduate studies with a BA (Hons.) in Dance Studies at the University of Malta School of Performing Arts. She studied with Lucía Piquero, Sara Accettura, Kostas Papamatthaiakis, Dorian Mallia, Malaika Sarco-Thomas, and Francesca Tranter, amongst others; graduating in 2019 with a first-class degree.
During her last year at university together with her classmates, she toured in Malta and Spain the choreographies of Lucia Piquero, Riccardo Buscarini and Jorge Crecis.
With this last one, she continued training for a year through his online program Towards Vivencia, where she collaborated to support the training of other editions' participants.
She also performed Prejudice (2018) and understudied Diaspora (2017)
for Contact Dance Company, both choreographed by Francesca Tranter.
In Malta, she has also participated in other performance projects such as M.A.D, Music and Dance, at Malta International Arts Festival, dancing the choreographies of Zoe Camillieri and Gil Kerer; or other choreographic research projects like EM2, Embodied Emotion in Motion, co-directed by Lucía Piquero and Jorge Crecis.
After graduating, she moved back to Spain auditioning for Proyecto goOD with Otra Danza (Alicante) and joined the company of Asun
Noales as an apprentice dancer for three months.
Later, she has presented her first solo work STILL POINT (2019) in
V Encuentro La RED at Café de las Artes (Santander), LaFuNdiCióN (Bilbao) and Teatro de La Laboral (Gijón).
She has continued exploring the field of choreography presenting another solo, Gaviota (2021), for Brotes_Lab21 Festival de microDanza,
at Teatro El Huerto (Gijón).
She has started working with her colleague Rafa Cascón as a dancer and choreographic assistant for his new project Proyecto PuntoZer0. A few months ago, they have premiered RITMOS (2021) at Nave 6 | Espacio de Creación (Pola de Siero), and they are currently working now on the creation of a new duet.
Lately, she has also worked for Teatro Factoría Norte as a choreographer for their new production The Asturian Sisters (2022).
As a performer, she has also danced with local companies. First, Danza Para Niños Kinkis (2016) and Play Again (2019) from Proyecto Piloto, and Aupapá (2010) from Zigzag Danza at Festival Haziaraba in the Mapping in KunArte (Vitoria). At a national level, she has performed Renacimiento (2019) from La Tristura at Teatro Jovellanos (Gijón)
Currently, she works as a teacher in different dance schools in Asturias, (PauDanza, ArtGarden Dance, La Caracola, SwingPire, Step, Lemarí, Patricia Laruelo...) offering regular classes and workshops for people of diverse ages, levels and movement backgrounds.
