APPRENTICESHIP

Proyecto goOD

Proyecto goOD is a seven-month-long apprenticeship program founded by Asun Noales (OtraDanza) for young dancers with a solid technique in contemporary dance and an interest in experiencing real contact with a professional dance company. During these months, the dancers work with the company on a daily basis, training with them and learning repertoire, but also with guest teachers from whom they can learn different dance techniques and explore ways of expressing themselves through movement, dance and performing arts. The training aims to develop performance maturity through new languages, deepening into more creative paths, offering tools for improvisation and strengthening the artistic personality of each performer.

In July 2019 I auditioned for Proyecto goOD and was invited in October to join the project as an apprentice dancer.

ONLINE TRAINING

Towards Vivencia

Towards Vivencia is a training methodology for performers who want to use the most radical advancements in neurosciences to maximise their traditional training, speed up their learning skills, enhance their presence, be more confident and develop their own inner strengths.

Its aim is to provide a platform for dancers from all over the world to develop a consistent practice, build an international supportive community, intensify their stage presence and enhance their mental and physical well-being.

In November 2018 I joined TWV as a participant myself. Today, I keep on working on the platform now as an Edition Manager supporting the training of other dancers.

The Annual Conference is the principal international meeting point for all members of the Dance Studies Association. The conference program usually comprises some seventy sessions, presented over the course of four days. Papers, posters, roundtables, lecture demonstrations, screen dances and workshops.

The last DSA Annual Conference was hosted in July 2018 in Malta, and I volunteered as an intern coordinating the team of volunteers and their tasks.

STUDENTS REPRESENTATION

USPA - University students of the School

The University Students of Performing Arts Association (USPA) is a university-based student association within the School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta aiming to encourage interdisciplinarity by providing students with opportunities to promote the Performing Arts.

During the academic year 2017/18, I joined the association's executive board as its Public Relations Officer. I was in charge of the public image, social media and email of the association.

Within other events, we organized the Performing Arts Festival, a two days festival on campus with a full schedule of presentations, workshops, performances and jams on Music, Theatre and Dance.

COMMUNITY DANCE

Openning Doors Malta

Opening Doors Association is a non-governmental voluntary arts organisation that provides opportunities for adults with diverse intellectual needs. We have various groups that meet weekly for arts training. Opening Doors hosts performances on a yearly basis, showcasing the work developed by our artistic leaders and trainees.

In 2017, I volunteered with their dance group led by Rachel Calleja. We had weekly sessions on Friday evenings in different venues in Valletta.

I am very interested in Community Dance Projects, especially in the area of Disabilities, and Opening Doors was a great experience for me to have a closer experience with this work.
